Office 2024 and LTSC Version Are Coming Later This Year

Office 2024

Office 2024, the next perpetual version of Office for Windows and Mac users will be released later this year, three years after Microsoft shipped Office 2021. Today, Microsoft also announced that a commercial preview of Office 2024 LTSC, the next release of Office for the Long-Term Servicing Channel will be available in April.

Unlike the Office apps that come with a Microsoft 365 subscription and are updated every month, the Office 2024 suite will only offer a subset of new features. The included Office apps will also lack support for cloud-based capabilities such as real-time collaboration or the new AI features that can now be unlocked with a Copilot Pro subscription.

“New features for Office LTSC 2024 include new meeting creation options and search enhancements in Outlook, dozens of new Excel features and functions including Dynamic Charts and Arrays; and improved performance, security, and accessibility. Office LTSC 2024 will not ship with Microsoft Publisher, which is being retired, or with the Microsoft Teams app, which is available to download separately,” Microsoft explained today.

Both Office 2024 and the LTSC version will get 5 years of support on Windows 11 and Windows 10. Microsoft said that it’s not planning to raise the price of Office 2024 for consumers, though commercial customers should expect price increases for Office 2024 LTSC due to it being a “speciality” product. “To support continued innovation in this niche space, Microsoft will increase the price of Office LTSC Professional Plus, Office LTSC Standard, Office LTSC Embedded, and the individual apps by up to 10% at the time of general availability,” the company said today.

Microsoft plans to share more details about new features coming in Office 2024 closer to its public release. The company also confirmed today that there will be another non-subscription version of Office after Office 2024.
