Google Chrome Can Now Fill Out Forms Using Data From Google Wallet

Google is continuing to upgrade the autofill capabilities of its Chrome browser, which recently gained the ability to fill in more complex information such as flight details and car license plates. Starting today, Chrome can now use information saved in Google Wallet to fill out forms on the web.

“Chrome can now automatically fill forms using data that’s stored in your Google Wallet, including driver’s license details, passport information and your Known Traveler Number. If those details aren’t already stored in your Wallet, you can save them there when you enter them in Chrome for the first time,” Google explained today.

In the Google Wallet app, Android users can still control whether a private pass that contains sensitive information, including a saved password or ID card, can share its data with Google Chrome to automatically fill forms on the web. Sensitive data from Google Wallet will always remain encrypted.

Earlier this month, Google also announced that it would expand the ability to add digital IDs in Google Wallet to select EU countries this summer. Just like passports, digital IDs have extra protections in Google Wallet to protect their sensitive information. As a result, users may be required to verify their identity with a fingerprint or PIN before they can use their information across Google services.
