Synology describes the DiskStation neo+ as a family of high-performance desktop NAS devices with competitive pricing.
“Desktop models remain at the heart of our NAS ecosystem,” Synology executive VP Bie-I Chu says. “As memory market dynamics shift, the neo+ Series reinforces our commitment to accessibility, giving customers the freedom to scale hardware according to their immediate budget and future growth.”
The DiskStation neo+ family includes the DS725neo+ (AMD Ryzen R1600, two-bay), DS925neo+ (AMD Ryzen V1500B, four bays), DS1525neo+ (AMD Ryzen V1500B, 5 bays), and DS1825neo+ (AMD Ryzen V1500B, 8 bays), and these are the new entry-level NASes in the DS (DiskStation) series. Like other DS products, they run the DiskStation Manager (DSM) software but they use non-ECC memory as a lower-cost alternative to the ECC-equipped DS Plus series. They can be updated to up to 32 GB of ECC RAM later if needed.
Each DiskStation neo+ includes 4 GB of built-in DDR4 RAM, two M.2 slots for caching SSDs, and two 2.5 Gbps Ethernet ports, and each supports storage expansion through the Synology DX525 expansion unit. The DS1825neo+ and DS1525neo+ also include a PCIe 3.0 slot so you can add optional 10 Gbps or 25 Gbps Ethernet cards.
The DiskStation neo+ line is available now from Synology and retailers like Amazon, B&H, and others.
