Vivaldi 5.5 Adds a Tasks Panel, More

The latest version of the Vivaldi web browser is now available on desktop, adding a Tasks panel, Snap Layout support, and performance improvements.

“Vivaldi 5.5 comes with a handful of improvements across the board, including a new Tasks Panel in the sidebar of the browser, which will help you to keep track of your tasks and schedules more efficiently,”
Vivaldi co-founder and CEO Jon von Tetzchner writes. “We have been working on improving the overall speed of the browser. So, you’ll find a significant speed boost, especially when working with the Address Field. The new version also adds support to the Snap layouts available in Windows 11.”

Here’s what’s new in Vivaldi 5.5:

New Tasks panel. The new Tasks panel in the sidebar lets you create and track a To-Do list without leaving the browser. Each task supports a due date, repetition, location, description, and reminders, and tasks can be viewed in Vivaldi’s Calendar too.

Address field improvements. Parts of the Address field logic have been rewritten to improve speed, Vivaldi reports, and it should please fast typists now. (I think of this as the Address bar.)

Snap Layouts support. Windows 11 users will enjoy that Vivaldi now supports Snap Layouts. I wasn’t aware that developers needed to target this feature in any way.

Mail, Calendar, Feed Reader improvements. Mail, Calendar, Feed Reader v 1.2 adds improved onboarding of new accounts and scammer protection improvements.

You can find Vivaldi 5.5 on the Vivaldi website.
