Arc Browser Launches on Mac and iOS, with Windows to Come

Arc browser on the Mac

The Browser Company announced today that its Arc web browser has left beta and is now generally available on Mac and iOS. The Windows version is still in beta, but is expected to launch in “winter 2023.”

“Despite the ways our internet use has evolved, the browser has remained relatively unchanged,” the Browser Company explains on its corporate website. “While all of our other software tools are changing for the better—with more collaborative features, flexible interfaces, and powerful functionality—the browser largely still does what it did twenty-five years ago. That’s why we’re building a new browser, which we call Arc, because we believe browsers can do so much more to empower us.”

The browser is available for download from the Arc website. There’s nothing in the way of a press announcement that I can find, but based on the site, this alternative web browser offers a unique and clean user interface that uses a collapsible sidebar instead of the traditional top-mounted browser chrome, modern features like split screen and themes, and advanced privacy controls. The firm claims that Arc doesn’t track the websites you visit, record your search terms, or sell your data to third parties (as Chrome and Edge do). (You can find its privacy policy here, at least.)

Those interested in the Windows version of Arc will need to join a waitlist. You can find that here.
