Vivaldi 6.5 Comes to Android Too

Vivaldi 6.5 for Android

Almost a month after its release on desktop, iPad, and iPhone, Vivaldi has shipped Vivaldi 6.5, a major update to its flagship web browser, on Android.

“Today, we are rolling out new and updated features for Vivaldi on Android,” Vivaldi co-founder and CEO Jon von Tetzchner writes in the announcement post. “Your full browsing history is now available across all devices when using the end-to-end encrypted Vivaldi Sync.”

Vivaldi 6.5 for Android includes the following new features:

Browser history, now with encrypted sync. Your full Vivaldi browsing history now syncs between all of your PCs and devices, alongside Bookmarks, Password Manager, Open Tabs, Reading List, Notes, and some settings sync. All of the data is end-to-end encrypted, Vivaldi says, and you can access your browsing history from the browser’s History panel or Address bar.

Improved Private tabs. As with other third-party browsers, you can now configure a different search engine for regular tabs and Private tabs.

Search suggestions improvements. Vivaldi already offered a unique feature called Search Engine Nicknames on desktop, which lets users quickly change between search engines on the fly using a single letter in front of search terms. Now, you can use this feature in Android, too, and if you don’t like it, you can disable it.

Vivaldi 6.5 for Android is available now from the Google Play Store.
