Opera Brings Emoji Decorations to Tabs

Opera announced that it has added a Tab Emojis feature to its Opera One desktop web browser on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

“With Tab Emojis you can make your tabs stand out from the rest in a fun and interactive way, helping you prioritize those that matter the most,” Opera’s Santiago Benavides García writes. “This makes the feature both useful and fun, letting you make your browser feel even more unique thanks to the more than a thousand emojis that you can pick from.”

Tab Emojis act as a decoration for tabs, rather than a name. While they can be used for fun, they can also provide visual distinction or emphasis to important tabs. For example, you might use emojis like 🚨 or ❗to indicate something urgent.

To decorate a tab with a Tab Emoji, hover over a tab, and a menu with five pre-selected emojis will appear. If one of those isn’t perfect, click the “+” button to display the full emoji library.
