Opera 85 for Android Adds AI Image Understanding, More

AI Image Understanding in Opera for Android

Following a similar update on iPhone and iPad, Opera 85 is here for Android with AI-based image understanding, no sign-in Aria, and other new features.

“We’ve just rolled out an exciting update to our flagship Opera browser on Android, and we can’t wait for you to try it,” Opera’s Tomas Habryka writes. “The big news? Aria, our built-in free browser AI, now comes with Image Understanding, a feature that lets you explore the world around you by simply uploading or snapping a photo.”

Image Understanding isn’t the only AI-powered feature in Opera 85 for Android: It also includes Google Imagen 3 Fast-powered Image Generation capabilities that let you create images based on a prompt or sketch. You can create up to five images for free. And as with Image Understanding, Opera doesn’t require you to sign in to Aria to use it. Opera’s Aria AI also offers Voice Search, Web Page Summaries, and Ask Aria capabilities, the firm notes.

Opera 85 also includes QR-code based sharing, password import from Chrome (adding to the previous bookmark import feature), and new Opera One-inspired themes.

You can download Opera for Android from the Google Play Store.
