Opera Partners with Spotify

Opera One + Spotify

Opera announced that Spotify is now the default streaming service in its flagship desktop web browser, Opera One R2.

“People love listening to music and podcasts while at their computers,” Opera product director Joanna Czajka says. “Now, with Spotify in the sidebar of Opera One, everything’s right there at your fingertips – you can shop, write, plan a trip, all while never having to stop listening to your favorite music and audio via the browser’s floating multimedia player.”

With this new integration, Opera and Spotify customers can easily listen to their favorite music, podcasts, and audiobooks while browsing the web. Opera One sports a new Music player, and users can try Spotify Premium for free for three months if they sign up through this sidebar component. They can also detach the Music player and move it around the screen as needed. When you join a meeting or call, the audio playing inside the browser automatically fades and then pauses for the duration of the call, and it resumes afterward.

The Spotify promotion is available to new customers in select countries, and it will be expanded to Opera on Android in early 2025.
