Opera GX Update Brings New Design, Mods, Additional Features

Opera GX mods

Opera this week announced the biggest-ever refresh of its Opera GX web browser for gamers, with a new design and several new features.

“Forget everything you thought you knew about how a browser should look,” Opera’s Mateusz Rzempała writes in the announcement. “Opera GX’s new ‘Underwave’ design language feels like it was pulled straight out of a futuristic game. We’re talking sleek, dynamic radial gradients, transparent elements, and minimalistic borders that give your browser depth and dimension. It’s smooth, it’s fresh, and it’s designed to make every interaction feel like part of a game’s user interface. Moreover it’s easy to navigate and keeps things simple so you don’t have to relearn how to use your browser.”

In addition to the new design, Opera GX also provides more customization than ever: Opera claims you can customize everything, from the browser interface to the light and dark themes, sounds and music in the background, the opacity and blur of tabs and sidebars, and a lot more. The browser now includes new modding features, too, so you can transform your browser with different fonts, icons, screenshot stickers, splash screens, sidebars, and so, and you can create presets of specific mods and switch between them.

As for new features, there’s MidnightFX that reduces blue light exposure and adjusts page contrast, making the web gentler on the eyes during late night gaming and browsing sessions; a new Multithreaded Compositor that makes the UI engine faster and smoother; a Focus mode with contrast control; new tabs features; and more.

You can learn more and download Opera GX from the Opera website.
