Browser maker Opera launched a promotion that will bring 10 users to Norway to browse the web from the Opera hygge desk.
“Hygge is used in Scandinavia to refer to an environment of coziness, calm, comfort and well-being,” Opera told me. “Think candles, warm colors, a sheepskin to sit on, and a perfect view of nature. Now that’s hygge. A hygge desk is where we transfer those principles over to your workspace; the lighting, furniture, and the general surroundings of your desk transmit the feeling.”
Opera is, of course, based in Norway, and the idea is that developing its browser over 30 years over endless summers and dark winters has instilled a sense of hygge in the resulting product. And to help promote this browser, so users can tell it why they should be one of ten people selected to come to Norway and browse the web from one of its ten hygge desks.
Opera describes a hygge desk as a desk that lets you leave anything exhausting or emotionally overwhelming behind while providing cozy elements like warm lighting and epic, vista views.
