Following the release of Vivaldi 7.2 on desktop, the latest version of the web browser is available on Android, iPhone, and iPad too. Oddly, each is a bit different. Here’s what’s new.
“With Vivaldi 7.2 for Android, we’re giving you even more ways to fine-tune your browsing experience,” Vivaldi co-founder and CEO Jon von Tetzchner says. “Whether it’s keeping your screen distraction-free, organizing your notes, or customizing how your address bar works, this update is all about giving you control.”
Key new features include:
Navigation bar improvements. Now, you can hide the navigation bar while scrolling, reading, watching a video or anytime you want a distract-free experience.
Custom note titles. Vivaldi has a built-in Notes feature, and with this release, you can add and edit titles for those notes so they’re easier to find.
Address bar improvements. As with the desktop version of the browser, you can now toggle Bookmarks and History suggestions in the Address bar. If you use both versions of the browser, you can sync this setting so it works the same on both.
You can download Vivaldi 7.2 for Android from the Google Play Store.
“We’re back with another update for Vivaldi on iOS, bringing more ways to fine-tune your browsing experience and stay in control,” von Tetzchner writes. “With Vivaldi 7.2, we’re making Notes even more powerful, giving you new ways to customize your address bar, and making translation history a breeze. Plus, we’ve added support for nine new UI languages, because the web should be for everyone.”
Key new features include:
Notes improvements. Now you can write notes using Markdown or rich text so you can use headings, bold, italics, and other formatting tools.
Address bar improvements. Vivaldi 7.2 for iOS adds the same Address bar customization and sync functionality noted above.
Translation improvements. Vivaldi includes an integrated Translation feature, and it now supports a history on iOS so you can review previous translations.
Per-site zoom settings. This is something I’ve wanted for years, the ability to set a custom, per-site zoom level.
Language support. Vivaldi now supports 7 new languages on iOS: Afrikaans, Belarusian, Estonian, Icelandic, Georgian, Slovenian, and Serbian (Latin).
You can download Vivaldi 7.2 for iPhone or iPad from the Apple App Store.
