Opera for Android Gets a Big Tab Management Update

## Opera for Android Gets a Big Tab Management Update

Opera for Android 89 offers a completely new tab management system with new features for customization, layout, and more.

“We realize it can be hard to keep track of all the webpages we open with our mobile devices on a daily basis,” Opera’s Santiago Benavides García writes. “Today, we’re putting an end to this problem: Opera for Android version 89 completely revamps the tab management system within the browser, making it easier for you to navigate your tabs without becoming frustrated.”

Here’s what’s new.

Tab layout customization. A large new Tab counter icon at the center of the toolbar in the bottom of the app lets you easily access the Tab gallery, which now offers Carousel, Grid, and List views of your open tabs. Carousel is the classic view, Grid offers a more visual overview of your tabs, and List lets you see more at once

Tab Islands (tab grouping). Opera’s Tab Islands feature comes to Android so you can group tabs and reduce the clutter. You can manually create Tab Islands, but Opera can also do so automatically, such as when you choose to open a link on a page in a new tab. You can also simply disable this feature.

Recently closed tabs. Using the new Recently closed tabs feature, you can quickly find tabs you closed and get back to something you previously accessed.

Search in tabs. This new feature helps you find a specific tab when there are dozens (or more) open. It’s available in the Tab gallery.

Mute tab. This helps you stop audio playback in a specific browser tab without having to silence the entire phone.

Opera also updated Aria, its in-browser AI, on Android with a new Ask More section at the end of Aria answers, and it provides some sample follow-ups to help you get started.

You can get Opera for Android in the Google Play Store.
