Vivaldi 7.8 is Here for Android, iPhone, and iPad

Vivaldi announced the release of its Vivaldi 7.8 mobile web browser for Android, iPhone, and iPad today.

“Vivaldi 7.8 for Mobile brings the features you’ve been waiting for on Android, plus thoughtful improvements to iOS that make everyday browsing smoother,” Vivaldi cofounder and CEO Jon von Tetzchner writes. “This release is about giving you control where it counts and letting you browse on your terms.”

Here’s what’s new.

Android

Pinned tabs. You can now pin favorite websites to the tab bar for quicker access, as on desktop.

Privacy Dashboard. Another feature from the desktop version of the browser, Privacy Dashboard displays the ads and trackers it blocked. It is, in Vivaldi’s words, a “reality check on the modern web,” a demonstration of “how much of the web is designed to follow you around.”

Third-party password manager support. You can now integrate Bitwarden, 1Password, or another password manager into Vivaldi instead of using its built-in password manager.

Faster private search. You can now search with selected text in private tabs.

Disable pull-to-refresh. You can turn off pull-to-refresh now if you find yourself accidentally triggering a page reload while trying to scroll.

You can download Vivaldi for Android from the Google Play Store.

iPhone and iPad

Swipe to switch tabs. You can now swipe up or down on the Vivaldi address bar to display the tab switcher. You have to enable this first in Settings > Address Bar > Enable Address Bar swipe gesture.

Add search engines from any website. Previously available on Android, this feature lets you add any website as a search engine.

Swipe away tabs. The Tab Switcher now lets you close a tab by swiping it.

You can download Vivaldi for iPhone and iPad from the Apple App Store.
