Microsoft Edge 90 Launches with Password Monitor, More

Microsoft today started deploying version 90 of its Edge web browser, adding a new Password Monitor, Kids Mode, and more. The new version is rolling outside alongside Chrome 90, which comes with its own new features.

Here’s what’s new.

Password Monitor. The biggest new feature in this release, Password Monitor notifies you if any of your passwords have been compromised and spotted on the Dark Web. This feature first started rolling out in January, but it’s now generally available to all users, Microsoft notes.

Kids Mode. This feature helps parents to provide a “better, more enriching, and safer web experience for their kids,” Microsoft says. Brad wrote about Kids Mode separately.

Synced browser history search. To date, Microsoft Edge browsing history has been limited to the data on the current PC. But with Edge 90, you can also search your synced browser history.

Downloads is now a flyout. I’m not a huge fan of this, but Microsoft has been working to make various Edge interfaces, like Favorites, available via a flyout instead of a menu or pane. And now it has made this change to Downloads as well.

PDF improvements. Now, you can print just the current page in a PDF document, like a real browser.

Password management improvements. Now, you can delete multiple saved passwords in a single action, Microsoft says.

Font rendering improvements. Starting with version 90, Microsoft Edge features improved font rendering with better clarity and reduced blurriness.

You can find out more on the Microsoft Edge “What’s Next” site.

Just update my Edge but it isn't 90. Anyone else see this? Also when is the Extension button on toolbar hitting production?

Credit where credit's due. Edge is a great browser. Good to see Password Monitor, and Vertical Tabs and tab sleep are great new features too. Seems to be one of the few things that Microsoft haven't managed to mess up over the past couple of years.

In the Release Notes, in the "Printing" heading, it says "Additional page scaling options for printing [...] The "Fit to Page" option ensures that the webpage or document is fit into the space available [...]".

Though they seem to have forgot to actually add this feature into the new v90.x stable release, as no-matter which printer I choose, there is no such "fit to page" option, only the "Scale" option where you can manually select a percentage by which to decrease or increase the size of the content until it does fit.
