Edge for Business is an evolution of the profiles feature that’s long been available in Microsoft Edge. It’s not a different application or EXE, just a mode that’s enabled when you sign into your Windows PC and/or the browser using an Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory, of AAD) account. When you do so, you will see a customized version of the Edge browser window with a unique icon (with a briefcase, indicating work) and a few minor UI changes. All policies, settings, and configurations previously set by your IT organization will transition into Edge for Business, and those that create a separate personal profile will get a separate (normal) Edge browser window with limited (unidirectional) personal-to-work browser window switching enabled by default.

In the future, Microsoft will enable bi-directional window switching that will help users maintain better work/personal browser separation. There will be future UI changes as well, including optional organizational branding on the Edge for Business window.
