Microsoft Edge Game Assist is an in-game web browser designed to help gamers with the title they’re currently playing. The latest update is now available with new features and support for additional games.
“Game Assist (Preview) is a special version of Microsoft Edge that’s optimized for PC gaming and can appear on top of your game in Game Bar,” the Microsoft Support website explains. “It’s regularly updated with new and improved features.”
For April 2025, key new features include:
Support for new games. Game Assist now offers enhanced support for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Genshin Impact, Monster Hunter Wilds, Split Fiction, and World of Warcraft.
Defaults to desktop rendering. Game Assist now displays the desktop version of a website by default, instead of the mobile version, as before.
Sidebar apps. Game Assist now supports Edge sidebar apps in addition to browser tabs.
Tabs improvements. New tabs now open in the foreground, but you can open a background tab with Ctrl + Click. You can also close tabs by clicking the mouse scroll wheel.
There’s more in the original post, and Microsoft also documents some new Edge Game Assist features that are available now if you’re using the Canary or Dev versions of Microsoft Edge.
