Microsoft Offers Free Video Game Development Workshop

If you’re interested in getting started creating your own video games, you should check out Xbox Academy, a free new workshop that the software giant created in partnership with East London Arts and Music (ELAM), Games London, and Playground Games.

“It’s a real pleasure to work with the talented people of Playground Games and Microsoft Store in delivering these sessions,” said Curtis Le Blanc, the Director of Games at East London Arts and Music. “Many of the students at ELAM have started their education in games development and other areas based on the inspiration from industry leaders just like the game creators at Playground, so we know how valuable sessions like this are.”

Xbox Academy Participants will be given an introduction in the Unity cross-platform game engine, learning how to navigate its complex user interface, design basic 3D levels, and start building basic games, Microsoft says. The workshop is hosted online, and it will be provided in four sessions.

Space is limited, Microsoft says, so head over to the Xbox Academy website to get started.
