Apple TV – buying / renting movies

Hi folks,

during the weekend I tried to rent a movie for the first time after Apple merged iTunes into the TV app. It kept telling me to open the itunes store on an ios device to validate my account (or something along those lines).

The itunes store of course points me to the TV app.

Nothing changed on my account, my payment info is still up-to-date. I’ve been running in circles for 2 days now and the little info I could find on Google didn’t help.

Anyone else experienced this?
