I purchased our third Casper mattress yesterday, and this time it’s for my own bed. I’m considering reviewing it, if there’s any interest.

I’ve had one for a couple years now, like it a lot but find it to be a lot firmer than I expected.

I also got Hullo pillows to go with it. It’s another startup that makes pillows filled with buckwheat hulls like they do in some Asian countries. Best purchase I ever made, this thing saved my neck!

I bought one based on the ads on the various TWiT podcasts. I really love mine, but even though I am already a convert I'd love to see a Paul-style review anyway.

Yes please, you and I are similar in size, I'm a side sleeper so if you are Paul, please comment on that.

Sure, why not. Although the difficulty in assessing vs. different mattresses given how rare replacing those are I'd imagine is a challenge.

Casper is expensive. I can go to my local mom and pop mattress store, and get one for half the prices of a casper. And that would include the price of shipping.

And it would be the same quality.

In reply to Lordbaal:

Queen-sized is the same price as a Stearns and Foster at my local mattress store. If you can get that level of quality for half that price, incl. shipping, then you're certainly a better shopper than I am….

In reply to Lordbaal:

Yes, but can you put it in a hatchback when you move? I was thinking of getting a Casper because my current one is about 7 years old and it is starting to cause me pain after I wake up

My wife insisted on ordering a Leesa (instead of a Casper) 2 years ago, based on online reviews. Two years later I'm not thrilled with it, I'd be curious to read your review on Casper actually.

I'd love to hear a review. I'm in the market for a new mattress.

Wish I knew you were in a market for a new mattress, should have went with a Sleep Number. Especially if you are worried about firmness of the foam like you stated to Andrew on WTT 406. Adjustable firmness and actual technology embedded.

If you and your spousal unit have different settings (say 100 and 35 for instance), then for the person on the firm side, rolling towards the middle of the bed can result in something akin to falling off the edge of the Grand Canyon in the middle of the night, followed by the sharp elbows of the person you have fallen on.

The most comfortable mattress I ever had was a super firm Dixie Foam mattress. They have more styles now, but the one I had was the base level and it retails for about $1,180 (queen size) now, which is a bit more than the Casper.

I would be much happier with it if there was a single air chamber. I like an air mattress, and could probably adjust to whatever number was mutually acceptable (what my wife wants), but I really do not like the divider and two air chambers.

Not ready to go out and get a new mattress, but if I were, I would be looking at the foam mattresses.

Most mattresses are ridiculously overpriced. I've almost never purchased anything except for the absolute cheapest possible one from the nearest convenient store that will fit the bed, and I've never been very disappointed. Of course, I can sleep anywhere, on anything, and have done so. Right now I'm sleeping on a futon that I found dumped at the curb in front of a house. Spend your money on something useful and get a cheap mattress.

jlmerrill

There are few out there that are the same as Casper and cheaper. Tuft & Needle being one. Still I think overpriced.
