While looking for some parts for a project, I stumbled across the little mini-pc made by Kangaroo that I hadn’t touched in about four years. It still had Windows 10 1809 on it. Curious what Windows Update would do with it, I made the internet connection and fired it up.
Of course it went straight for 22H2, but I wasn’t convinced it would work. It did fail; backed the update out and tried again. Failed the second time, too. The third time, it changed strategy and went for 1903. That did work, but the next time Windows Update went right back to trying 22H2. I let it fail once more before taking control and putting 21H2 on it. That was successful, but it is still too resource constrained for serious usage.
Unless there is a Windows “Lite” version in our future that will happily exist with 2MB of RAM, I’m guessing the next install on this device will be some flavor of Linux.
