Call of Duty: Mobile was originally heading only to China, but now the game is getting a worldwide launch, Activision says.
“Take the heart-pounding, adrenaline-fueled action of Call of Duty with you wherever you go,” the new Call of Duty: Mobile website notes. “Play your way across multiple game modes as you engage in head-to-head battle through fan-favorite maps like Nuketown and Crash, all optimized for mobile. And the best part? It’s free to play with free updates.”
“The foundation of Call of Duty: Mobile is heart-pumping head-to-head multiplayer,” the Android app listing further explains. “In Call of Duty: Mobile you will play several classic maps and modes from across Call of Duty franchises, including Call of Duty: Black Ops and the original Modern Warfare series. Multiplayer is just the start. Over the coming months, stay tuned for updates on additional game modes including a unique Call of Duty Battle Royale experience.”
As with the console versions of COD, Call of Duty: Mobile will support character, weapon, and outfit unlocking, scorestreaks, and gear. The game will also support Ranked Mode play and clans.
Based on the gameplay trailer, it looks like Call of Duty: Mobile will rival at least the Xbox 360, graphically. Add in a real game controller, and this could get interesting.
You can preregister for the game on the Call of Duty: Mobile website or on Google Play. Apple’s App Store is coming soon too.
