Microsoft Launches “Ori” Sequel, Drops Xbox One X Price to $399

Celebrating the launch of Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Microsoft has dropped the price of the Xbox One X to just $399, its “best value price ever,” according to Microsoft.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps is available now with Xbox Game Pass and on Xbox One, Windows 10 PC and Steam,” Microsoft’s Daniel Smith writes in a new post to the Xbox Wire. “Offering a new combat system and Easy, Normal and Hard modes alongside the beautiful visuals and music the series is known for, Ori and the Will of the Wisps is a one-of-a-kind adventure everyone can enjoy.”

It’s also a one-of-a-kind adventure everyone that can enjoy on a new Xbox One X more inexpensively than ever before: Microsoft’s flagship console is just $399 now, a price Microsoft describes as its “best value price ever,” whatever that means. And the new Ori game delivers HDR colors, true 4K resolution, and 60 fps of performance, so it should be a visual feast.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps can be played as part of an Xbox Game Pass subscription on console or PC, including Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. (Ori’s first adventure, Ori and the Blind Forest, is also available on Game Pass.) Or, you can purchase the game for Xbox One, Windows 10 PC, and Steam for $29.99. There’s also a $49.99 Limited Collector’s Edition that provides a golden feather SteelBook case, a Piano Collections Ori and the Will of the Wisps soundtrack CD, a download code for the game’s soundtrack, and The Art of Ori and the Will of the Wisps book.

Is $399 a typo? The Xbox One X and PS4 Pro can be bought from various retailers for far less.

Even the Microsoft Store sells the Xbox One X (with game) for $299.

Every X bundle is currently $299 at Microsoft store, on sale from $499.

Maybe it's an cut to the "official" price that hasn't updated yet? But definitely don't buy an X for $399…

In reply to rosyna:

No, it's not a typo. It's MSRP that's changing, meaning the retail, price of the product when NOT on sale is $400 (as apposed to $500), which means that the price will be EVEN LOWER than $299 when it goes on sale. You might even start seeing XB1X at $199 this holiday.

They should have just said that. It’s interesting to me that you just got that from their description. I still don’t see that.

I only recently tried the first Ori game. Looks good, and it had my attention for a bit, but I felt a bit stressed out I was going to forget some things in the world to do and then get frustrated wondering what I had to do next. I was in the mood to relax at the time so put the game away and haven't picked it back up.

I must give it another crack and then move on to this one since it looks really nice!
