Minecraft developer Mojang Studios has released today the new Minecraft Java & Bedrock Edition for PC, which combines the two versions of the game in the same bundle. Even better, Minecraft gamers who already own either the Java or the Bedrock edition of the game will get the other one for free.
For those unfamiliar, the Minecraft Java Edition is the “legacy” version of the game for Windows, macOS, and Linux, while Bedrock is the cross-platform version of the game that’s available on PC, mobile devices, and consoles. On PC, the two versions of the game are now sold together, and they also use the same launcher.

Minecraft Java & Bedrock Edition is priced at $30 and you can purchase it on the official Minecraft website. If you already own the Java or Bedrock Edition on PC, the Minecraft team said that it may take up to 3 days for the other edition you’ll be getting for free to appear in the Minecraft game launcher.
“To be clear, Java and Bedrock will remain separate games with their own distinctive features. The only difference is that now you get both by default when buying Minecraft for your Windows PC, and access them both from the same launcher,” the Minecraft team explained.
Today also marks the release of the Wild Update for all versions of Minecraft, which introduces two new biomes, four new mobs, and three new block types. This free update also brings two free character creator items out for the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft.
