Microsoft’s Xbox App on PC Adds a Performance Indicator

Microsoft has detailed today some new updates for its Xbox app on Windows, which provides access to PC games as well as PC Game Pass. In addition to recent navigation improvements, the June updates for the Xbox app include a new Game Performance indicator.

Before installing a game from the Xbox app, the new Game Performance indicator will now indicate PC gamers the level of performance they can expect from their own hardware. The system compares game’s performance on PCs with similar specs to provide these indications.

“As we continue to learn about the performance of a game on similar PCs, you may not see a performance check for every game (especially recently added games) until we have enough information to share a recommendation,” the Xbox team explained.

For PC Game Pass subscribers, Microsoft has also introduced new curated collections on the Home page of the Xbox app. The latest additions include “Games to play together”, “Side Scrollers”, and “Point and click”.

While Microsoft’s Xbox app for PC is still a work in progress compared to other game launchers like Steam, it receives new updates at a regular pace. You can also opt-in to get early access to new features via the Xbox Insider Hub app.
