New White Version of Microsoft’s Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller Leaks

A new white version of Microsoft’s Xbox Elite Series 2 controller has apparently leaked online. The new white Xbox Elite Series 2 controller with its matching packaging appeared in an unboxing video published on YouTube a month ago, and it gained traction this week after being reshared on Twitter (via Windows Central).

Even though the video itself is pretty short and blurry, it still gives us a good look at what could be a white version of the Elite Series 2 controller Microsoft originally released back in November 2019. You may notice that even though the face and the back of the controller in the video are white, the rubberized back and side grips are still black.

The Xbox team definitely has a certain affinity for the white color. As you may remember, Microsoft previously released a white special edition of its original Xbox Elite controller a couple of years ago, so this white Elite Series 2 controller wouldn’t be unprecedented. Microsoft is also selling a white Xbox console with the Series S, which also comes with a white Xbox controller.

If the Xbox Elites Series 2 controller is now almost three years old, it does remain a popular accessory for Xbox gamers, despite some reliability issues. It was also the first controller to use a USB-C port for charging, something that Microsoft brought to the Xbox Series X|S controllers released in fall 2020.

We don’t know yet if Microsoft will ever release an Elite Series 3 controller, but this new white Elite Series 2 controller should still be a welcome new option for Xbox fans. With the Xbox team having a presence at gamescom 2022 in Cologne, Germany later this month, it will be interesting to see if the Redmond giant uses this opportunity to announce some Xbox controller news.
