Bethesda’s Starfield Will Be Released on September 6

Starfield, the much-anticipated sci-fi RPG from Bethesda has a new September 6, 2023 release date, Bethesda announced today. The Xbox and PC exclusive game previously had a November 11, 2022 release date, but Microsoft announced back in May 2022 that Starfield would be delayed to 2023.

A new trailer for the game was released today, and Bethesda also announced that there will be a Starfield Direct live stream on June 11, 2023.

Starfield is a brand new IP from Bethesda Game Studios, the developer of Fallout IV and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Bethesda games are known for their large open worlds where players can spend hundreds of hours, and Starfield will be no exception. It’s the first Bethesda RPG set in space and it will allow players to explore various planets.

Open-world RPGs are notoriously difficult to develop, and Microsoft was probably right to give Bethesda almost a whole year to keep working on Starfield. This is one of the most-anticipated games of 2023, and it will have the difficult task of trying to change the “Xbox has no games” narrative that has been going on since the Xbox One generation.

If you don’t count the recently-released Hi-fi Rush and the upcoming Redfall, Starfield will be the first Xbox-exclusive blockbuster game to be released since Microsoft’s completed its acquisition of Bethesda last year. And as all new first-party games, it will be available on day one on Microsoft’s Game Pass subscription service.
