Meta Launches Quest+ VR Subscription Service

Meta Quest

Meta is launching today Meta Quest+, a new VR subscription service that gives subscribers who own a Quest 2 and Quest Pro VR headset two free VR titles every month. The service will also be compatible with the upcoming Quest 3 headset that’s coming later this fall.

Meta Quest+ will be priced at $7.99 or $59.99 in the US, but early enthusiasts signing up today through July 31 can get their first month for just $1. The first two free games to be offered in July include Pistol Whip and Pixel Ripped 1995, and Walkabout Mini Golf and MOTHERGUNSHIP: FORGE will follow in August.

“Subscription services have been a great way to get more bang for your buck as far back as the Blockbuster days. And at a monthly value of up to $60 USD, Meta Quest+ combines affordability with the convenience of a curated experience,” the company said in the announcement.

Overall, there are a lot of similarities between Meta Quest+ and Microsoft’s Games with Gold program: Subscribers can redeem two games for free every month, but an active subscription is required to play these games. And if you chose to cancel your subscription at some point, you’ll be able to regain access to all games you previously claimed if you chose to re-subscribe later.

If the quality of Microsoft’s Games with Gold leaves a lot to be desired these days, Meta promises “a combination of VR’s biggest hits, hidden gems, and back-catalog classics” to Meta Quest+ subscribers. If you own one of Meta’s VR headsets, then the $1/month limited offer that’s available starting today should be worth it. And if you’ve been interested in one of the company’s Quest headsets, the Meta Quest 2 now starts at $299.99 for the 128GB model.
