Baldur’s Gate 3 is Now Available on Xbox Series X|S Consoles

Baldur's Gate 3 Xbox

Baldur’s Gate 3, which just won the GOTY award at The Game Awards 2023 ceremony is now available on Xbox Series X|S consoles. While the game has been available on PC and PlayStation 5 for a couple of months now, developer Larian Studios had to delay the release of the Xbox version of the game to optimize it for the less powerful Xbox Series S.

This much-talked-about delay definitely fueled the “Xbox Series S is holding back gaming” narrative this year, and Larian Studios indeed had to make compromises to release Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox this year. At launch, the Xbox Series S version of the game doesn’t support split-screen coop, and whether Larian Studios manages to get it working later remains to be seen.

In the meantime, it’s great that Xbox gamers finally get to play one of the best games of 2023. You should really enjoy the game if you like the role-playing system of Dungeons & Dragons, though be aware that the turn-based combat can be quite challenging.

Baldur’s Gate 3 getting so many awards this year is a great way to recognize a labor of love from an independent studio that didn’t try to fill its game with microtransactions, paid extensions, and other things that plague so many modern games. Baldur’s Gate 3 actually launched in early access on PC back in October 2020, and community feedback helped to make it become what it is today.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is priced at $69.99 on the Microsoft Store, and there’s also a $79.99 Digital Deluxe Edition that includes the game’s soundtrack, a digital artbook, and some unique items. The game also supports cross-saves by linking your Xbox account with a Larian account.
