Ubisoft Makes Changes to its Ubisoft+ Game Subscription Service

Ubisoft+

Ubisoft+, the game subscription service Ubisoft launched four years ago is getting some name changes and a new tier. First of all, Ubisoft+ Multi-Access, the main tier that provides day-one access to new Ubisoft games on PC, Xbox, and Amazon Luna is being rebranded to Ubisoft+ Premium, and it’s still priced at $17.99/month.

For PC gamers, Ubisoft is also launching a new tier named Ubisoft+ Classics on PC. It’s priced at $7.99/month, and it provides access to a selection of older Ubisoft games such as Far Cry 6, Rainbow Six Siege, and Watch Dogs: Legion. Ubisoft said that the library will grow over time.

This Ubisoft+ Classics plan already existed on PlayStation consoles, where it’s included in Sony’s PlayStation+ Extra and PlayStation+ Premium tiers. Microsoft does something quite similar with EA Play, which is included for free with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. While there’s no standalone Ubisoft+ Classics tier on Xbox and PlayStation, Xbox players can subscribe to Ubisoft+ Premium on their console and access the game library on PC and Amazon Luna. Recent Ubisoft games also support cross-saves, which makes switching platforms really seamless.

For $17.99/month, Ubisoft+ Premium is actually a good deal if you’re a fan of Ubisoft games: You get day-one access to new games such as Assassin’s Creed Mirage or the critically acclaimed Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, which is currently available in early access for subscribers. Ubisoft+ Premium also gives you premium editions of Ubisoft games with all DLCs included (something Microsoft doesn’t do with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate), as well as monthly rewards.

While we don’t know the current number of subscribers to Ubisoft+, Philippe Tremblay, Director of Subscription at Ubisoft said that 2023 was “the biggest year ever” for the game subscription service. “We’re above projection in terms of subscribers joining the program, and in October alone we reached the highest month since launch in terms of monthly active users,” the exec said yesterday.

After Microsoft granted Ubisoft the streaming rights to Activision Blizzard games last year, Ubisoft is also planning to add these games to Ubisoft+ in the near future. Microsoft will also do the same thing with its own Game Pass service later this year.
