PlayStation’s Next PC Port Comes With New Overlay and Trophies Support

Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, the next PlayStation exclusive game that’s being ported on PC will integrate with PlayStation social features. The game will be the first to feature a new PlayStation overlay that players can access in-game, and it will also support Trophies, which are the PlayStation equivalent for Xbox achievements.

“Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is the first PlayStation title on PC that uses a new PlayStation overlay, which includes your Friends list, Trophies, Settings, and your Profile,” the announcement on the PlayStation blog reads. “Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut on PC shares the same Trophy set as the game on PlayStation 5 consoles. In addition, the PC version also has full support for Achievements on Steam and the Epic Games Store.”

PlayStation PC Overlay Trophies

Ghost of Tsushima’s Director’s Cut will also support cross-play in its cooperative online multiplayer Legends mode, though that will require signing in with a PlayStation account. However, it doesn’t appear that the game will support cross-saves between PlayStation and PC. This is something that more and more developers including CD Projekt Red (Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3), Larian Studios (Baldur’s Gate 3), and Microsoft have been embracing in recent years, and it’s really something that may convince players to buy the same game on multiple platforms.

Since Sony started releasing more of its PlayStation games on PC, there have been various reports suggesting that the company was working on its own PC games launcher. However, that may be probably not worth the effort. With this new PlayStation overlay, Sony showed that it’s capable of integrating its own PlayStation social features on top of those from Steam and the Epic Games Store. And the use of this new PlayStation overlay will still be optional.

The PC version of the critically-acclaimed PlayStation exclusive game will also add support for ultra-wide monitors, as well as Nvidia DLSS 3, AMD FSR 3, and Intel XeSS. Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is coming to Steam and the Epic Games Store on May 16.
