With QuakeCon 2024 underway in Texas, Bethesda has some new DOOM updates to share and a massive sale on many Bethesda titles across all platforms.
First up is a new bundle of the OG DOOM and DOOM II titles from the early 1990s: These classic titles are now available in a single, inexpensive package on all modern game platforms that provides the original and remastered versions of each, new online co-op and deathmatch multiplayer modes, cross-platform support, an incredible range of add-on episodes (Master Levels for DOOM II, TNT: Evilution, The Plutonia Experiment, No Rest for the Living, and Sigil), a new “Legacy of Rust” episode, an optimized renderer with support for up to 120 Hz in 4K, new accessibility options, an optional modern IDKFA soundtrack by Andrew Hulshult that includes all-new DOOM II recordings, and all kinds of extras. (Check out the release notes, it’s nuts.)
This package is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Windows PC (Steam, Windows Store, Epic Games Store, and GOG), and Game Pass. It’s inexpensive at $9.99 (on sale now at $7.99), but if you previously purchased (OG) DOOM or DOOM II on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Epic Game Store, the Microsoft Store, Steam, or GOG, you’ll get this title for free.
Next, Bethesda has made its upcoming DOOM Anthology available for preorder. This is a new release that includes DOOM (OG), DOOM II, DOOM 64, DOOM 3, DOOM (2016), and DOOM Eternal Deluxe Edition. It costs $79.99, ships October 22, 2024 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 Nintendo Switch, and PC, and will come in physical and digital editions.
And here’s a real curiosity for you: Bethesda is partnering with Limited Run Games to sell a physical edition of DOOM (OG) on the Super Nintendo (for some reason). This cartridge will ship in 2025 in Standard and Collector’s edition forms, but it’s not clear yet how much it will cost. Or why anyone would want this, honestly.
Bethesda also announced that Doom Eternal is now available on the Epic Games Store in Standard ($39.99, on sale now at $23.99) and Deluxe ($69.99) editions, plus all the add-ons and the Year One Pass. And id Software, which is owned by Bethesda, announced the release of idStudio, which allows modders to create DOOM Eternal mods using the idTech Engine. Gamers can opt into the PC Mod Preview across Steam and Microsoft Store on PC to browse and play mods in Doom Eternal.
There are also some updates for Skyrim, The Elder Scrolls Online, and even Fallout 76, which is getting a new Milestone Zero update soon. You can learn more in the original post. But do check out the Quakecon Sale 2024 as well: Many Bethesda titles are on sale right now across all platforms, so this is a good time to stock up on Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein, and other games you may have missed. (You can see the sale prices at the various game stores as well, on each platform.)
