Warcraft 1 and 2 Remasters Launch Today Alongside Warcraft 3: Reforged 2.0

Warcraft 1 and 2 remasters

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Warcraft franchise, Blizzard just surprised-dropped new Warcraft 1 and 2 remasters on PC. A patch 2.0 for Warcraft 3: Reforged is also available today with graphical improvements and other updates

The new Warcraft 1 and 2 remasters feature a new 2D art style, but players will be able to switch to the game’s original graphics in real time. “Both Warcraft I and II also have UI and UX improvements, such as tooltips and health bars, a mission select screen, and increased unit selection,” Blizzard said today.

The Warcraft 1 remaster is introducing modern gameplay features such as right-click move, band box select, and faster game speed. The Warcraft 2 remaster, however, supports multiplayer games with up to 8 players on classic or custom maps.

The just-released patch 2.0 for Warcraft 3: Reforged introduces a lot of changes including UI improvements, a new lighting system, and more granular controls for graphics with the game’s assets also getting an HD upgrade. “There are also new quality-of-life improvements such as in-game hotkey customization, updated ladder, and much much more,” Blizzard said today.

The Warcraft 1 and 2 remasters are now available to purchase on Battle.net at $9.99 and $14.99, respectively. They’re also included in the $39.99 Warcraft Remastered Battle Chest bundle, which also includes Warcraft 3: Reforged and the original versions of Warcraft 1 and 2. There was no mention of a PC Game Pass release, but I’ll update this post if I get more information about that.
