Select Xbox Insiders Can Test Streaming Their Own Games on Their Consoles

Xbox insider stream games you own

Microsoft is inviting Xbox Insiders on the Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha rings to test streaming the games they own on their Xbox consoles. Microsoft launched this new Xbox Cloud Gaming feature on smart TVs and web browsers last month, but it’s not available yet on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles.

“With the “Stream your own game” feature on Xbox consoles, you can stream select games you own on your Xbox console without needing to install them. This allows you to play games through streaming, saving you time and hard drive space, and offers access to your games with Xbox Cloud Gaming,” the Xbox team explained today.

Streaming your own games on your Xbox console requires an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, and the list of supported games is currently restricted to approximately 50 titles. The biggest games in the list include Baldur’s Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Dying Light 2, Final Fantasy XIV Online, Hogwarts Legacy, Mortal Kombat 1, NBA 2K25, Star Wars Outlaws, The Witcher 3, and Warhammer 30,000: Space Marine 2.

On Xbox consoles, the “Owned games” section of the game library will display a cloud badge on games that can be streamed via Xbox Cloud Gaming. When selecting one of these games, players will get the choice between installing it or streaming it. “Support for launching directly from the Store app and streaming in the Xbox app on Windows PC will be coming in the future,” the Xbox team said today.
