Grand Theft Auto VI has been delayed a second time to November 19, 2026, Take-Two Interactive announced yesterday alongside the release of its latest quarterly results. The game was initially set to be released in fall 2025, but a first delay to May 26, 2026 was announced back in May.
“We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve, developer Rockstar Games posted yesterday. “We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City.”
GTA VI will be released 13 years after GTA V, one of the best-selling games of all time, with more than 220 million sold to date. It will be interesting to see if this new delay will lead other game publishers to change their plans. Microsoft, for example, will likely release a new Call of Duty game in late October or early November, and the company may also release Forza Horizon 6 next fall.
This second delay comes at a tumultuous time for Rockstar Games, which just laid off more than 30 employees in the UK and Canada who were allegedly leaking confidential information. On October 31, the Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB) accused the publisher of firing these employees because of their trade union activity and called out ‘the most blatant and ruthless act of union busting in the history of the games industry.’
