Nvidia announced yesterday at CES DLSS 4.5, a new version of its AI-powered upscaling and frame generation technology that’s now available in beta. The company also announced the upcoming release of new GeForce Now apps for Linux PCs and select Fire TV sticks from Amazon.
You may remember that Nvidia announced DLSS 4.0 last year alongside its GeForce RTX 50 series. The fourth generation of the company’s Deep Learning Super Sampling technology introduced transformer-based Super Resolution and 4X multi-frame generation.
“DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution, available today, introduces a 2nd generation transformer model for DLSS Super Resolution that delivers state-of-the-art image quality. 6X Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, available Spring, automatically adjusts the frame rate multiplier for smooth 240+ FPS, 4K path-traced gaming,” Nvidia explained in the announcement.
If you have a supported RTX 50 Series GPU, you can try DLSS 4.5 by downloading the beta version of the Nvidia app (version 11.0.6.35) and the latest GeForce Game Ready drivers. The new Super Resolution model is already supported in over 400 titles, and the new Multi Frame Generation 6X Mode will be supported in over 250+ games later this spring.
As for Nvidia’s GeForce Now cloud gaming platform, a native app for Ubuntu 24.04 and later distributions will be released later this year. GeForce NOW is already available on any device via a web browser, but Nvidia previously released native apps for Windows PCs, Macs, and Chromebooks, and various smart TV platforms. That will soon include Amazon’s Fire TV Stick 4K Plus and Fire TV Stick 4K Max, which will also get a new GeForce Now app in early 2026.
