Sony’s PS5 Digital Edition is Down to its $399 Launch Price for a Limited Time

PS5 Digital Edition discount

Nearly three weeks after all PlayStation 5 consoles received a price increase, Sony is offering a $200 discount on its PS5 Digital Edition, which is down to $399 for a limited time (via The Verge). We’re back to the launch price of this model back in 2020, when gaming consoles were still affordable.

On April 2, both the PS5 Digital Edition and regular PS5 got $100 more expensive, while the PS5 Pro saw its price go from $749.99 to 899.99. The regular PS5 with a disc drive now matches the $649.99 price of Microsoft’s Xbox Series X, while the PS5 Digital Edition currently costs the same as the 512GB Xbox Series S.

Sony is selling this $399 PS5 Digital Edition with a Fortnite Flowering Chaos Bundle, which includes 8 cosmetic items that will be exclusive to PlayStation until November 26, 2026. As a reminder, you can still buy this console and add Sony’s detachable disc drive for $79, which still makes it cheaper than the regular PS5 (now $649.99) with the same disc drive.

Sony says on its PlayStation website that this $200 discount on the PS5 Digital Edition will be available “while stocks last,” so you may want to act fast if you want to get the best-selling console on the market. And keep in mind that the PS5 is now getting pretty much all new Xbox games, including the upcoming Forza Horizon 6, Halo: Campaign Evolved, and Fable.
