Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo just announced upcoming price increases for its Switch 2 console in the US, Canada, Europe, Japan, and Latin America. Original Nintendo Switch consoles and the company’s Nintendo Switch Online subscription service are also getting more expensive in Japan, but other markets won’t be affected (via Gameindustry.biz).

The Nintendo Switch 2 price increase will come into effect in Japan on May 25, 2026, and on September 1, 2026, in other markets. “This is in response to various changes in market conditions, which are expected to extend over the medium to long term,” Nintendo said today. “We understand that pricing changes can be challenging for customers and deeply appreciate the continued enthusiasm of our fans for Nintendo products and experiences.”

Here are the details about the upcoming price increases for the Nintendo Switch 2, coming on September 1 (May 25 in Japan):

  • US: $499.99 (currently $449.99)
  • Canada: $679.99 (currently $629.99)
  • Europe: €499.99 (currently €469.99
  • Japan: ¥59,980 (currently ¥49,980)

In Japan, original Nintendo Switch models are also getting more expensive on May 25, and Nintendo Switch Online will also get a price bump on July 1. Here are the details:

  • Nintendo Switch: ¥43,980 (currently ¥32,978)
  • Nintendo Switch Lite: ¥29,980 (currently ¥21,978)
  • Nintendo Switch (OLED Model): ¥47,980 (currently ¥37,980)
  • Nintendo Switch Online Individual membership (12 months): ¥3,000 (currently ¥2,400)
  • Nintendo Switch Online Family membership (12 months): ¥5,800 (currently ¥4,500)

Nintendo said today that it will share price revision details for the Nintendo Switch 2 in Latin America at a later date. Both Sony and Microsoft already raised the prices of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles around the world, so it’s no surprise that Nintendo also needs to adjust to market conditions. The ongoing AI boom has caused a rise in memory prices, and this is the first console generation where hardware is getting more expensive over time.
