Microsoft Brings its Xbox App to Hisense and VIDAA OS-powered TVs

Microsoft’s Xbox app is now available on TVs from 2024-2026 running VIDAA OS, the software platform powering smart TVs from Hisense, Toshiba, Loewe, Schneider, Akai, and other manufacturers. The app can stream games from the Game Pass library, as well as cloud-enabled Xbox games from the “Stream your own game” library. It should also support Xbox Remote Play for streaming games installed on your home Xbox console.

The upcoming availability of the Xbox app on Hisense TVs and other models running VIDAA OS was announced back at CES in January. With this new expansion, Microsoft says that Xbox games are now available on “millions” of new smart TVs.

“This summer we’ve expanded XBOX streaming to more than 150 million TVs and devices around the world because not everyone can afford dedicated gaming hardware. Today we’re adding millions more through VIDAA OS and Hisense, so more people can play on the hardware they already own,” Xbox CEO Asha Sharma posted on X today.

Xbox Cloud Gaming is now available on all Game Pass tiers, though you’ll need the Ultimate tier to enjoy 1440p quality with a higher bitrate. The Xbox team noted that the Xbox app will automatically appear on the Home page of smart TVs running VIDAA OS 9.6 (too bad for customers who didn’t ask for it), and checking for software updates may be required on older models.

Last week, Microsoft also started a free ad-supported version of Xbox Cloud Gaming with Xbox Insiders. The beta test is currently only available on consoles, though it will likely expand to the Xbox app on smart TVs at some point.

Microsoft’s Xbox is currently available on smart TVs from Samsung and LG, and it’s also accessible on Fire TV devices. At CES in January, TCL also announced that the Xbox app was coming to its latest smart TVs running the Google TV platform.
