Head of 343 Industries Steps Down

Bonnie Ross, the head of 343 Industries and the person most directly responsible for Halo Infinite, said today she was leaving the company.

“While I had hoped to stay with Halo until we released the Winter Update, I am letting you know I will be leaving 343 and attending to a family medical issue,” she tweeted today. “I am incredibly proud of the work everyone at 343 Industries has done with Halo Infinite, the Master Chief Collection, the Halo television series, and so much more. It has been an honor to serve alongside the team for the last 15 years and to be a part of a universe that I love.”

The timing couldn’t be worse: Halo Infinite was a year late when it finally arrived in late 2021, and it has been beset by continual delays for new features and new seasons. Just recently, the firm announced that it would not deliver a long-planned split-screen co-op feature, while delaying the most recent Halo Infinite season yet again.

There have been calls to strip Halo away from 343 because of this debacle, and it’s impossible not to speculate that the many Halo Infinite problems played a role in Ross’ departure. Obviously, we hope that’s not the case, and that she can get in front of the family medical issue she cites.
