Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga is Getting a Big Update Along with PS5 Port

Back in May, Microsoft revealed that a port of the Xbox exclusive Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga would arrive on PlayStation 5 this summer with “exciting new features.” Today, we learned what’s new, when it will arrive, and where it will arrive.

“Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II Enhanced comes to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Game Pass, Steam, and, for the first time, PlayStation 5 on August 12,” the announcement post explains. (Note the new “Xbox on PC” language.) “This updated version includes graphical and gameplay additions, as well as an enhanced Photo Mode and developer commentary. August 12 will also see the game become Steam Deck Verified.”

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II was released as an Xbox exclusive by Microsoft-owned Ninja Theory in May 2024, and its port to the PlayStation 5 follows a previous port of the original Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice to PlayStation. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II Enhanced is a free update on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Steam, and it will cost $49.99 on PlayStation 5. There’s also a Deluxe Edition for $69.99 that includes a version of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice that’s optimized for PS5. (And those who own Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice for PS4 can upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version for free.)

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II Enhanced includes:

• Performance Mode: You can now play the game at up to 60 FPS on Xbox Series X, where it was previously limited to just 30 FPS. (Series S is still stuck at 30 FPS.) There’s also a new “Very High” graphical fidelity preset and that Steam Deck verification.
• Dark Rot. The Dark Rot from Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice comes to the new game, adding additional challenges.
• Enhanced Photo Mode. The Photo Mode gets a new Motion tab for cinematic video capture and other improvements.
• Developer commentary. There’s over 4 hours of commentary involving the developers and cast.

• Everyone gets the Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice original soundtrack, and if you preorder for PS5, you’ll also get the Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II original soundtrack.
