Apple’s Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR Set for December Release

Along with the launch of the new 16-inch MacBook Pro, Apple also has some news for Mac Pro fans. The company today announced that the new Mac Pro will be available for purchase sometime in December.

Mac Pro was first revealed back in June of this year, which is when we got our first look at Apple’s next-gen Mac Pro. And if you have been waiting for months for the new Mac Pro, you will finally get to purchase it next month.

Apple isn’t revealing the exact release date for the Mac Pro just yet, but the company did announce it will release along with the new Pro Display XDR monitor. That means both the new Mac Pro and the Pro Display XDR monitor will be available at the same time sometime in December.

The new Mac Pro and the Pro Display XDR obviously aren’t cheap at all, with the Mac Pro starting at $5,999 and the Pro Display XDR starting at $4,999. And that probably isn’t a lot of money for those who actually need powerful devices like the Mac Pro.

So much hype for something that less than 1% (if that) of computer users will ever use.

Seeing they'd promised it for 2019, the only news here is that it won't ship in the next couple of weeks.

Of course we still don't know the pricing for any but the most minimal configuation nor do we have any idea what configurations will ship "in December" or in what volumes.

Seeing that minimal configuration isn't suitable for "those who actually need powerful devices like the Mac Pro" it'll be interesting to see what a real-world configuration costs before declaring what is and isn't a lot of money for them.

Oh, and Mehedi, don't forget to add the $1,000 for the monitor's stand.

In reply to MikeGalos:

Given that the 28 core processor retails for over $3,500 or $11,000 (depending on the model they use), I guess that, with sufficient memory and storage, you won't see much change out of $10,000 – 20,000.

Oh well, I will be flamed for this but this is my opinion, which in the area of aesthetics is equally valid to any one else's.

That is the butt ugliest design I have seen from Apple, and I am not judging it from just this image.. The display stand is a travesty. The case is, in my view unattractive. It grabs my eye for wrong reasons. The diameter of the robust carrying handles is out of sync with that of the feet which makes it look top heavy. I will acknowledge that airflow under those spindly legs is probably great but shesh this is not great industrial design. It is of zero interest to me but then I am not Apple's market.

Of course the opinion of those who will shell out for this is all Apple will care about, and there will no doubt be many prepared to do so.
