HP Announces New Dragonfly, Many More Portable and Desktop PCs

HP is announcing a wide range of portable and desktop PCs across its consumer, business, and gaming segments this week at CES 2022.

With our latest offerings, HP is delivering premium performance, security, and collaboration experiences for businesses everywhere.”

Some of the key announcements include:

HP Elite Dragonfly G3. The third generation Firefly arrives with Windows 11 as expected, but now it’s available in Slate Blue and Natural Silver colors and it offers a taller 13.5-inch display with a 3:2 aspect ratio. Powered by 12th-generation Intel processors, the HP Elite Dragonfly G3 also provides Enhanced by HP Presence, Audio by Bang & Olufsen, HP Dynamic Voice Leveling, AI-based noise reduction 2.0 technologies, and HP Wolf Security for Business. Pricing is TBD with availability in March.

HP Elite Dragonfly Chromebook Enterprise. This surprise entry brings the iconic Dragonfly look and feel to Google’s Chrome OS. It features the world’s first haptic trackpad on a Chromebook, a 5 MP webcam, and four speakers tuned with Audio by Bang & Olufsen. It can be had with an optional magnetic pen that attaches and charges wirelessly on the side of the device, plus an HP Sure View Reflect integrated privacy screen and HP Sure Shutter for blocking your webcam. The HP Elite Dragonfly Chromebook is also the world’s first Intel vPro Chromebook. Pricing is TBD with availability in April.

HP desktops. HP announced two desktop PCs. The ENVY Desktop PC features multiple high-speed ports including Thunderbolt (with support for four 4K displays) and a card reader, Windows 11, up to 12th-generation Intel Core i9 processors, up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti graphics, and a one-touch tool-less expansion functionality. And the HP Z2 Mini G9 is described as the world’s most powerful mini workstation with a new, contemporary design, next-generation Intel Core processors (up to K series), and low-profile NVIDIA RTX professional graphics. Availability in March, pricing TBD.

HP business PCs. On the business front, HP announced its HP Elite x360 1040 G9 and HP EliteBook 1040 G9, which feature thin and light chassis designs, 16:10 displays, HP Presence capabilities, 5 MP webcams, and immersive audio software for voice clarity. The HP EliteBook 800 G9 Series PCs have been redesigned as well, with a new ultra-slim chassis, new 16:10 displays, larger clickpads, optional auto-tracking 5 MP webcams, Audio by Bang & Olufsen, and optional 5G connectivity. There are also new HP EliteBook 600 G9 Series PCs and HP ProBook 400 G9 Series PCs for growing businesses. Availability in March, pricing TBD.

ZBook Firefly 14 G9. HP’s most mobile ZBook workstation gets updated with an AI-enhancing webcam, next-gen Intel Core processors, NVIDIA T550 laptop GPUs, and up to 64GB of RAM. Availability in March, pricing TBD.

Gaming PCs. HP announced its OMEN 45L Desktop with a new CPU-enhancing OMEN Cryo Chamber, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 graphics with 24 GB of dedicated GDDR6X RAM or an AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT with Infinity Cache technology, up to 12th-generation Intel Core i9-12900K processors or 8-core AMD Ryzen 9 5900X processors, and Windows 11. (It’s also available as a DIY chassis for those who want a custom build.) A new Victus by HP 15L Desktop arrives in a small form factor design with two case color options (Mica Silver and Ceramic White), including a customizable RGB infinity mirror logo. It provides up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti or up to the AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT graphics, 12th-generation Intel Core i7 processors or up to the latest AMD Ryzen 7 5000 G-series processors, and up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM. The OMEN 45L Desktop will ship today and starts at $1900. The Victus by HP 15L Desktop arrives in February, pricing TBD.

    <p>HP Elite Dragonfly G3: <strong>3:2 display</strong>. Other than Huawei, not sure offhand how often 3:2 has appeared in non-tablets. </p><p><br></p><p>The reign of ‘you can have any display you want as long as it’s 16:9’ is finally over.</p>
