Amazon Announces Fire Max 11 Tablet With Fingerprint Sensor

Amazon Fire Max 11 Tablet

Amazon has unveiled today the Fire Max 11, the company’s biggest tablet yet. The new tablet imitates the design of Apple’s latest entry-level iPad with flat edges, a rear camera bump for the 8MP sensor, and a fingerprint sensor that’s integrated into the power button.

Amazon made clear references to the 10th gen iPad in its press release, claiming that the Fire Max 11 “is three times as durable as the iPad 10.9” (10th generation) as measured in tumble tests, while remaining lightweight at just over a pound.” Amazon’s tablet also features strengthened glass on the front, and it also uses 55% recycled aluminum on the edges and post-consumer recycled plastics on the back.

The Fire Max 11 comes with an 11-inch display with a 2000×1200 resolution, 64GB or 128 GB of storage, and a battery that can last up to 14 hours when streaming video. Amazon claims it’s the most powerful Fire tablet yet with a 2.2 GHz octa-core processor and 4 GB RAM. The tablet also supports Wi-Fi 6, and it has a Pogo pin connector to attach the optional keyboard case.

Amazon highlighted how its new tablet can be more useful for productivity scenarios thanks to a more performant split-screen mode and convenient accessories. The keyboard case for the Fire Max 11 has a built-in trackpad, and the tablet also supports handwriting recognition with the optional stylus pen.

“The Made for Amazon Stylus Pen lets you draw and design in apps like Picsart, mark up your documents by hand in Microsoft 365, and take handwritten notes in OneNote. Plus, Fire Max 11 features on-device handwriting recognition with the write-to-type feature,” Amazon emphasized today.

The Amazon Fire Max 11 will start shipping next month, and its price will start at $229.99. Until now, Amazon Fire tablets have gained attention as cheap consumption devices, but the Fire Max 11 marks the first time Amazon is trying to compete more seriously with the iPad.
