The Samsung Galaxy Trifold, the company’s first foldable phone with three panels will launch in the US on January 30, and it will start at a whooping $2,899. Thanks to the company’s double-folding display technology, the Galaxy Trifold offers a 10-inch display in a design that’s just 3.9 mm at its thinnest point.
Samsung’s ultra-premium foldable phone was first announced in December, and the company promised at the time “engineering mastery.” With a titanium hinge and a main display that undergoes a 200,000-cycle multi-folding test, the Galaxy Trifold will allow users to fold the device approximately 100 times a day for more than five years.
The Galaxy Z Trifold comes with an external 6.5-inch display mounted in the middle of the three panels, and the 10-inch display (when unfolded) can be transformed into a portable workstation with Samsung’s Dex software. Users will be able to open multiple desktops for multitasking, add a secondary screen, and connect a wireless keyboard and mouse for a PC-like experience.
In addition to Samsung Dex, the Galaxy Z Trifold includes Galaxy AI features such as Live Translation for Calls, Writing Assist, Generative Edit, and Google’s Gemini Live feature for real-time guidance. “Users can edit with ease on the large display while taking advantage of fan-favorite features like Photo Assist, Generative Edit, and Sketch to Image to allow users to capture and create with Samsung’s most versatile creative platform,” the company explained.
Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Trifold comes with a custom Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, a 5600 mAh battery (the largest ever in a Galaxy phone), a 200 MP wide camera, a 12 MP ultra-wide camera, a 10 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, 16 GB of RAM, and up to 1 TB storage options.
The Galaxy Z Trifold will be available in the US at Samsung Experience Stores and Samsung.com. You can check out the foldable device starting today at Samsung Experience Stores before it goes on sale on January 30.
