Lenovo Announces Tab Plus Gen 2 Tablet

The Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 is a striking and versatile Android tablet that expands on the audio focus of its predecessor with a larger and superior display, a 360-degree rotating kickstand, and new intelligent features.

“The Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 is the next generation of its tablet created for the increasingly fluid ways people move between media consumption, multitasking, and shared experiences,” Lenovo explains. “With upgrades spanning audio, visuals, versatility, and intelligent features, it expands the role of the tablet across a broader range of activities and environments.”

Lenovo released the original Tab Plus in 2024 and, as I noted in my review, it was most notable for its 8 JBL speakers and impressive Dolby Atmos sound.

For this second go-round, Lenovo completely redesigned the tablet, which now features 9 JBL Pro speakers and a unique 360-degree rotating kickstand surrounding some of those speakers in its middle rear. This kickstand allows users to orient the Tab Plus in landscape or portrait orientations with arbitrary tilt, carry it around with them, or hang the tablet on a hook. As before, you can also use the Tab Plus as a standalone Bluetooth speaker from your smartphone and other devices.

Where the original Tab Plus came in a dark Luna Grey color, Gen 2 arrives in a friendlier Celestial White, and the display is a nice upgrade, with a larger 12.1 size, a 2.5K (2560 × 1600) resolution, Dolby Vision and HDR10, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and 800 nits of brightness.

Inside the Tab Plus Gen 2, you’ll find a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 octa-core processor, a choice of four configurations–6 GB of RAM/128 GB of storage, 8 GB/128 GB, 8 GB/256 GB, and 12 GB/256 GB–microSD expansion to 2 TB, and Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4. There are two cameras, 8 MP on the front and 13 MP on the rear, and USB-C 2.0 for charging the 10,200 mAh battery with 45-watt fast charging capabilities.

On the software front, the Tab Plus Gen 2 includes Lenovo AI Live Transcript with real-time translation, Lenovo Smarter Reader for easier reading and content navigation, and AI Notes with Lenovo Notepad for streamlined notetaking and organization, the company says.

The Tab Plus Gen 2 will ship with Android 16 and will get two major OS upgrades and 4 years of security patches, but availability and pricing are TBD.
