Computex 2016: Dell Launches New Inspiron 2-in-1s and Laptops

Dell has completely overhauled its consumer-oriented 2-in-1 and laptop lineups, with new Inspiron 7000, 5000, 3000 series devices. Key among them is what I believe to be the first-ever 17-inch 2-in-1, The Dell Inspiron 17 5000.

Say what you will about Dell, but they really know how to name their PCs. Cough.

“With our new Inspiron 2-in-1 lineup, customers can work where they need to and play when they want to,” Dell viceo president Ray Wah said in a prepared statement. “Whatever you can create or imagine, you can achieve it with the 2-in-1 laptop best suited to your needs. Dell is thrilled that our innovative technology can help make your creation a reality. Our customers inspire us, and we keep on innovating for them.”

Each of these PCs runs Windows 10 and features optional infrared cameras for Windows Hello authentication. The 2-in-1 versions obviously have touch screens that can fold back all the way, transforming the device into a bulky tablet.  And each will become available in the US and China starting in June, Dell says.

Here’s what Dell announced.

Inspiron 7000 2-in-1. Available in 13-, 15-, and 17-inch screen sizes, the Inspiron 7000 2-in-1 family features an aluminum design, up to 6th generation Intel Core processors, Full HD displays, backlit keyboards, precision touchpads, and USB-C power/expansion capabilities. Pricing starts at $749.

Inspiron 11 3000 2-in-1. This 11-inch 2-in-1 PC is both affordable and ultraportable, Dell says, with a colorful, fun design, the latest Intel processors, and an HD (1366 x 768) display. Pricing starts at $249.

Inspiron 5000 2-in-1. The new 5000 series features a sleek new design and a wide-angle 13- or 15-inch Full HD display, a backlit keyboard option, available SSDs, and up to 16 GB of DDR4 RAM. Pricing starts at $529.

Inspiron 5000 laptops. These standard laptop designs come in 15- and 17-inch variants with numerous processor options, an optical DVD drive (with optional Blu-Ray writers on the 15 inch model), and a stylish and attractive body with a glossy, colorful finish. Customers can choose from several color choices including Midnight Blue, Bali Blue and Tango Red. Pricing starts at $249.
