Microsoft’s augmented reality platform has a new leader: Ruben Caballero, who previously oversaw wireless technologies at Apple.
Ruben recently joined Microsoft’s Mixed Reality & AI Division, according to his LinkedIn profile. In his new role as corporate vice president, he is now leading the team responsible for HoloLens.

Caballero describes himself as “passionate and thorough, with experience in R&D, prototyping, designing, integrating, testing, and shipping millions of world-class consumer electronics products and technologies.”  He is a “proven innovator for new consumer experiences creating new technology areas and breakthrough designs.”
A 14-year Apple veteran, Caballero was a founding member of the original iPhone team at Apple and founded and led the Wireless Design & Technology group at Apple. He is apparently working for Microsoft in Silicon Valley, not Washington State.
