Next Microsoft Ignite is Coming (Virtually) in November

Microsoft’s next Ignite conference will be just as virtual as the previous two, unfortunately. It’s being held from November 2 to 4.

“Join us November 2–4, 2021 for our digital experience, including the latest product demos, Q&A with Microsoft experts, technical deep-dives, and more,” the Microsoft Ignite website notes, confirming that this event will not be an in-person or hybrid event as once hoped.

Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, Microsoft canceled its in-person Ignite 2020 conference last year and later decided to split its virtual replacement into two events. The first, called Ignite 2020, was held in September, two months earlier than usual. And the second, called Ignite 2021, was held in March 2021.

I guess we’re just calling this one Microsoft Ignite, and given what’s happening with Windows 11, I hope that we see a lot more Windows content than we’ve seen at recent Ignite conferences.

Virtual cons are hardly worth attending. That's the fun of cons - meeting up with people, refreshing, and learning.

People and companies aren't willing yet to have in-person conferences. WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Professionals) held their conference last week and only 1 of the 4 or 5 camera manufacturers even had a booth. A second was going to but pulled out three days before the show started. The expo was about half the size it was in 2020 (right before Covid shut things down). Attendance was at least half if not less then that as well.

I miss SpiceWorld the most because of this very reason.
