Surface Pro 9 and Surface Laptop 5 Specs Leak

We’re just a few days away from Microsoft’s Surface event on October 12, but an almost complete list of specs for the upcoming Surface Laptop 9 and Surface Laptop 5 has apparently leaked. Aggiornamenti Lumia, a Twitter account notorious for leaking upcoming Microsoft products spilled the beans in a series of tweets earlier today.

The list of specs in the tweets is pretty much in line with previous reports suggesting a switch to 12th Gen Intel Core CPUs on both the Surface Pro 9 and Surface Laptop 5. There’s still no trace of an AMD-based Surface Laptop 5, which would be a first since the Surface Laptop 3 offered the choice between Intel and AMD CPUs back in 2019.

This year, the Core i5 versions of the Surface Pro 9 will be available in two new finishes, Forest and Sapphire. The base model will still offer 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM, and all models will also support Bluetooth 5.1 and WiFi 6.

The leaker tweeted that they didn’t share the full list of configurations. There’s indeed no information about the ARM-based Surface Pro 9 that’s expected to succeed to the Surface Pro X with SQ2 processor.

Once again, the Surface Laptop 5 will be available in 13.5” and 15” versions, with Microsoft offering the same Intel 12th Gen Core CPU options as the Surface Pro 9. The specs list also includes Bluetooth 5.1 and WiFi 6, and the Platinum finish will apparently be only available on the 15” model.

The Surface Pro 9 and Surface Laptop 5 will all be running Windows 11 Home, which isn’t surprising. In addition to these two flagship devices, Microsoft is also expected to announce a new version of its Surface Studio all-in-one PC next week, which hasn’t been refreshed since 2018. The company may also use its October 12 event to introduce a couple of new Surface accessories.
